Sue & Chris Trew - Owners

Sue and Chris are delighted to welcome you to Turtles Nest … named after their love of turtles and because Dover Beach is a popular nesting beach for hawksbill turtles.

Sue is a popular Barbadian artist who, through her many paintings, giftware designs and children’s book, delights in promoting the beauty of turtles in the sea around Barbados. Sue and Chris, along with their two daughters, Holly and Georgie, have spent many hours swimming with turtles and observing their nesting habits. Together they run their family business, Best of Barbados Gift Shops founded in 1975 by Sue’s parents Jill and Jimmy Walker, selling quality art and giftware made or designed in Barbados. They gladly donate a percentage of sales on turtle merchandise to the Barbados Sea Turtle Project.

Holly Trew - Property Manager

Holly is your ‘go to’ person at Turtles Nest. She knows a lot about the island having grown up here. Her particular interest is the sea, and she has a PhD in Ecology from The University of the West Indies. If you’re interested in diving, snorkelling or sailing do ask her for recommendations!

Holly is also a talented artist and is part of 3 generations of artists in her family. You’ll see art by each of the generations throughout the apartments, making them unique. Holly loves animals and has a rescue dog called Paddy.

Turtles Nest is a family property so you’ll see Holly and her parents, Sue and Chris, during your stay. Sue looks after the garden and Chris might be in his ‘man cave’ under the stair while doing improvements.
